Femina prize aims to bestow Portuguese women, who have distinguished themselves, in Portugal or abroad, professionally, culturally and humanely in Portuguese society.

The award ceremony was performed by a honor committee, consisting solely of male members - thus recognizing women's value and excellence in modern Portuguese society and evolved as their peers in their own right.

Virginia Goes was awarded on merit and the Visual Arts, on May 17, 2011.
